The Hole

Oil on canvas, colour, 24 (w) x 33 (h) cm.

The hole is an alien addition to a series of  八 (hachi), meaning 8 in Japanese. Wheres the 八 series illustrates the Japanese split subjects who on one hand try to be in harmony with the society, on the other hand, who miss their individual voice and dream of an outsider life, the uneasy story of the human being in Japan illustrating the contrast in between the society and its individuals. Dion with this additional work is suggesting another dimension for this existential search. Beyond the dimensions of inside and outside of the canvas or the society, the dimension of depth.
