A depiction of Lord Mahadeva, also known as Lord Shiva who is one of the principal deities of Hinduism Lord Shiva with a trident in his hand and river gang in his hair.  

Shiva is known as The Destroyer within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity in which the cosmic functions of creation, maintenance and destruction are personified as a triad of deities, typically Brahma as the creator, Visnu as the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer.

In Shivaism which is one of the major traditions of Hinduism, Shiva is considered as the supreme being who creates, protects and transforms the universe.
