Allie Dechow

As an interdisciplinary artist comprising painting, moving image, and poetry, Allie’s thinking and making is underpinned by an inherent affinity for both what is human and nonhuman. Experimental prose is often developed into a narrative for video work, and draws from past and contemporary literature, reinterpreting and subverting narrative into speculative fiction. This is expressed through blurring the boundaries between the real and playfully fictive, in which she enjoys exploring realms of magical interconnectedness hidden in both the phenomenal- as well as the metaphysical world. In response to increasingly hyper individualistic societies, Allie merges both deeply recognisable as well as imagined aspects of being human, and invites viewers to fall into planes of unknowing.
